We try to relieve hiccups with quick sips of water, holding our breath, a sudden jolt. But oftentimes they soon return, and we are back to the same battle, the same methods, searching for a cure.
Navigating grief, or in my case, trying to move forward after the loss of my child, is similar to curing hiccups. There are countless methods and plenty of people to offer advice. But sometimes, just taking a deep breath and concentrating on one hiccup at a time is the only way to make the journey tolerable.
